The copper wire enameling machine applies multiple layers of insulating enamel (polyurethane, polyester, polyester-imide, polyamide-imide or polyimide) onto continuous copper wire to produce magnet wire. The process integrates annealing, multi-pass coating, high-temperature curing, cooling and take-up in a single continuous line. Modern machines operate with catalytic ovens for near-zero VOC emissions (typically ≤20 mg/m³), heat recovery systems, and multi-line configurations (12–38 lines) covering wire diameters from 0.04 mm ultra-fine to approximately 3.0 mm.

How the Enameling Process Works

Bare copper wire (or rod after inline drawing) is paid off, annealed to restore ductility, cleaned, and passed through successive enamel applicators (felt or precision dies). Each coating layer is partially or fully cured in a multi-zone oven (preheat 150–200 °C, curing 300–580 °C depending on enamel chemistry). Multiple passes (commonly 7–15, often dual or triple coat) build the required film thickness and concentricity. After final curing the wire is cooled, lubricated and wound onto spools.
